How To Cope With Stress
How to cope with stress; a guide for healthcare staff. There are methods that can be implemented to cope with stress. Different stressors and causes can be identified before nurses, carers, and social workers will be able to find a method that works for them to ensure better mental health.
1. Body Movement
Exercise, dancing, yoga, pilates, or even a walk outdoors does wonders for stress relief. By staying active the body is automatically stronger and will keep the mind off of work for a little while.
2. Support
One of the best ways to cope with stress is to talk to somebody about what causes the stress. Talk to fellow staff members who can relate to the same causes of stress as you, maybe they have found a way to cope with it that can work for yours too. If the stress you experience is caused by a colleague, talk to a counsellor, family member, a friend, or get medical support.
3. Relaxation
Find ways to relax your body and mind is a great way to cope with stress. Everyone relaxes in their own way. Pick up a book, find a new hobby, spend more time with people that make you happy, spend time outdoors.
4. Motivation and Interest
Cope with stress through positive thinking. Nurses, carers, and social workers should try to stay positive, motivated, and interested throughout their occupations. There are several ways to do so:
Learn new skills to stay updated with any new developments in the industry
Working hard can always lead to financial incentives that ensures motivation
5. Nourishment
Nurses, carers, and social workers all work intense schedules that cause a lack of nourishment. Eating healthy and as regularly as needed, drinking enough water, and catching up on lost sleep can help cope with stress.
