No Smoking Day is an annual health awareness day which is intended to help smokers who want to quit smoking. The purpose of this day is to spread awareness about the harmful health effects of tobacco consumption. The important message is to help smokers to get rid of the bad habit of smoking.

Quit smoking for your health, family and to save money. There are lots of benefits to your health when you quit smoking. Health benefits include looking younger, stopping brown teeth and bad breath, feeling less stressed, improvements in breathing and fitness, the return of your sense of taste and improvement in your fertility levels. Your family will be protected and will no longer be exposed to second-hand smoke and you will reduce your children’s chance of suffering from bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma attacks, meningitis and ear infections.

Start quitting by taking the following steps:

1. Set a quit date.
2. Tell your friends and family that you plan to quit.
3. Anticipate and plan for the challenges ahead.
4. Remove cigarettes and tobacco products.
5. Talk to your doctor about getting additional help to quit.

Know the triggers that lead you to smoke and keep track of your cravings in a journal.

Keep busy. Join the NHS, quit smoking and be #SmokeFree.
