Scottish Social Services Council Registration Changes 2024
A24Group Update: Are you registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)?
This update is for Social Workers and Care and Support workers in Scotland. Do you need to register with the SSSC, and do you know about the changes to the Register?
About the SSSC
The SSSC regulates the social work, social care and children and young people workforce in Scotland. This means they ensure a skilled and trusted workforce delivers high-quality care. Did you know? Around 1 in 13 people employed in Scotland work in social services - that's over 200,000 people!
SSSC Registration Changes 2024
Changes made registration simpler and clearer, highlighting the benefits of being registered and the importance of qualifications for quality care.
Who needs to register?
1) Social Workers: If you work as a social worker in Scotland, you must be registered with the SSSC.
2) Care and Support Workers: This applies to you too! Depending on your role, you'll need to be on either the:
Social Care Workforce Register (for adult care and support)
Children and Young People Workforce Register (for children and early years)
Already Registered?
Great news! You don't need to reapply. The SSSC will contact you about your new registration category.
